Subject:Reason OR Acid?

When it comes to making a quick mix, Acid PRO or any of the other baby's work well, and do an excellent job.

However, any serious music producers out there who demand more control of sequencing fx, and tracks, and rely on MULTIPUL midi device inputs might want to switch to Propellerheads software Reason 2 and ReCycle.

I LOVE ACID! don't get me wrong, and i used it for 3 years, but about 6 months or so ago i found Reason 2.

I still use acid, it and cd achritect do an excellent job of smoothly mixing everything i want to do. But if you're hardcore about making original music (without using loops) go for Reason. You can create your own interesting loops in Reason and then put them into Acid if you feel like, but I can't say enough about Reason.

now that acid 4 has rewire, the combination of using these two apps together is unstoppable.

You do know that ACID Pro 4.0 now has ReWire 2, correct?

ummm.....so, you're saying serious producers don't use ACID? i find it rather insulting that because i use ACID you classify me as somebody who is not serious about his work. i'd say if you think ACID is not for serious work then you obviously haven't explored the program to its full potential.

anyway, the point is moot, since you can hook up Reason to ACID and have the best of both worlds. :)

There are MANY "serious" music producers that use ACID all the time, so I wouldn't generalize this.

ACID does support multiple MIDI inputs - as many as you want if your system is up to the task.

You can use auto routing or manually set up routes to both external MIDI hardware or softsynths.

I make my living producing music and multimedia. AcidPro is my main music app. I suppose that means I'm not serious or "hardcore" ? Oh dear.

I say we let this poor soul have his sally, about "serious music producers". I mean check it out he states "about 6 months or so ago i found Reason 2".
Me I discovered Reason about a month after it was released approximately three years ago (Ver. 1). I've been a beta tester for all releases since, along with others we discovered ways to link Acid and Reason perhaps two and a half years ago using Hubis Loopback Device.
So here we have a "serious music producer" that isn't even keeping up with the latest innovations, and developments, so let's keep all this in mind and not be too hard on the Noobie, I recall when I first found Reason I thought in was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Today it is the number one selling Audio Application worldwide, so I expect there will be many exulting the virtues of Reason. Perhaps the poster could have chosen his words more wisely. Let's not forget, hardcore Fruity and Project 5 users may disagree with his assessment. Each to his own, I don't mind. Best of luck with what you find...Level Vibes

Really?! What source claims this?

Let me rephrase...

"And with Reason now supposedly outselling both Sonar and Cubase SX put together by 3:1 in the States,"

This according to May 2003 FM 135 (Future Music Magazine)

I find that hard to believe, but the since they use the "supposedly" qualifier they covered themselves from actually reporting a fact vs an opinoin. I take it the article does not provide a source of this claim.

A 3:1 ratio of both total Cubase and SONAR sales would be on the order of 40-60 mil in gross sales. Very unlikely. Reason is a niche product in a niche market. If the Propellerheads are doing 5-10 mil a year in gross revenue, that would be very very good. 15 million and that would be completely amazing.

I would be a bit wary of quoting Future Music/Computer Music (same publisher).
Remember the debacle when it was discovered that a freelance journalist had copied large chunks of material from Sound On Sound and used it in reviews in FM/CM?

Back to the subject: Acid is a professional tool...as is Vegas/Sound Forge/CD-Architect etc. and I am a professional user in broadcasting for 20 years (no SoFo then of course).
There are actually Avid-users prefering to work with Vegas, but I digress...

What are some famous, or even not so, albums made with Acid? Who, that most of us would know, use Acid to make a killer album?
