Subject:Echo Mia Question

Before I got the Mia, I used to be able to have Acid and Sound Forge open at the same time and hear both. Now I have to close one before I can hear the other. Same result if I open 2 instances of Acid. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, I bought a multimedia pc keyboard for the handy volume control knob which I use like every 30 seconds. Thanks to the Mia, I can no longer use this knob. Anyone know of a way to assign the knob to the volume control in the Mia console?

Because of these 2 major inconveniences, I'm considering exchanging the Mia for an Audiophile 2496. Does the 2496 have these same 2 issues as well?

Thanks,
sponge

Hi, Spongebob!

I cannot coment on the problem you are having with the volume knob, but I can tell you that playing multiple apps at the same time is one of Mia's best features. The trick is that each application must be set to use a different virtual output (Mia has 4 of them). Go to Options/Preferences/Audio in Acid, and select the Echo driver from the Audio Device Type dropdown menu. Then select the desired virtual out from the Default Stereo and Front Playback Device dropdown. Then go to Options/Preferneces/Wave in Sound Forge and select a different virtual out from the Playback dropdown. If you have the same virtual output selected in both applications, then only one of them at a time can use the soundcard. Best of luck!

Baxter, I was using different virtual outs, but it turns out one of them was muted. My bad. Thanks.

Spongebob:

I feel your pain! Those channel mutes can seem to have a mind of their own. Hope all is well new. Best of luck!
