Subject:Licensing for distribution?

This really isn't an Acid question, but there are some very knowledgeable cats here and I am hoping someone might save me some time....

My band wants to put together a CD/CD-ROM project to sell at our gigs and we wanted to include standard audio files(that play on all cd players), wave files and mpegs and/or avi files along with text files and a bunch of other stuff...kind of like a poor man's dvd. My question is this, do we need some type of written permission from Microsoft,Real Media ,or Adobe(Quicktime) in order to have their players open/read these files?

Let me clarify; we want our "fans" to use this on their computers (for all of the goodies such as mpegs, avi, whatever) and we don't know if their platforms are PC or Mac,nor do we know what kind of program is their default for reading such files,so we figure if we just save as standard mpegs or avi, most of the afore mentioned programs should work, but do we have to let these companies know that we are distributing data that will be opened by these programs, because we are NOT including these players, ONLY files that require one of these players to open them.

I hope this is clear enough. Thanks for ANY help or suggestions that come my way. I don't really even know where to begin, short of calling all of these companies and staying on hold FOREVER!!! Thanks,Luces

luces,
you have no worries, you can distribute your content in these formats as you wish.
the only concern when you do stuff like this is that the content (songs, videos, etc) doesn't have someone else's copyright or ownership. In other words you can't pass out other people's music, but I'm sure you knew that.
have fun!
