Audiophile 24/96 drivers for 98se? -ACID Product Family

I am using an Audiophile 24/96(duh, that's the post title) and I am still having problems with crackling and just general instability using AP 4.0c or 4.0d. I have tried just about everything you can think of, but it just won't happen. It's primarily in the midi and higher sample/bit playback. I really would like to use some of the new midi features in 4.0c-d,but I guess I will have to wait...which brings me to my question, which I guess is directed primarily to the SOFO tech team.... The last time I spoke with tech support@SOFO they told me that M-Audio had recognized that there was an issue with the 2496 drivers and that there would indeed be a new driver for the 2496 under Win98se and I followed up by talking to a tech at M-Audio who said..."uh, yea, I think,uh, there might be,uh, somethin' in the works,uh, but I'm not sure, but just keep checking".... So do any of you SOFO techs who check in here have ANY info on this? I just don't see the need to upgrade to XP when my system is REALLY TWEAKED right now and I'd rather spend my $$$$ on something more useful,like loop libraries!!! Unfortunately the M-Audio site is not as interactive and/or friendly as this one,so they ain't much help. Thanks for any info....Luces.

It was my understanding that many vendors (especially in the audio/video production arena) were ending support for 9x/Me. Since Microsoft is planning on phasing out 9x/Me, expect vendors to follow suit, if not sooner. In effect, you may not have a choice but to upgrade in the future in order to get support. Iacobus

(Audio sometimes drops out the first few seconds of playback in Sound Forge.) They're just not updating as often as they used to. Iacobus
