DVD + or DVD -?

I was thinking of getting a DVD burner so I can make DVD's. Now I've always heard at least someone argue about how much better DVD + is and somebody else sauing how DVD - is more compatible. Now I know that there are DVD+/- Drives, but those can run pretty expensive. Now if anyone else would have a choice which would you pick, + or - ?

Depends on your intentions. I produce DVDs for various clients, each with a different DVD player, so compatibilty is chief. My Pioneer A04 DVD-R has never failed me.

Go with the Sony which does both. Personally I use the Pioneer AO5 - but with Microsoft's recent decision to back DVD+, who knows where things will go? I have had no problems with "-" BTW

Get them both: buy Sony DRU-500 burner, it burns both: - and +.

I have the Pioneer A05 which has never failed me. A friend of mine has the sony & we found a few DVD players not liking the "+" as much. Anyway I use only Mitsui blanks & they don't support the +R format anyway.

I have a DRU 500AX, and no problem.

I use DVD+RW for rewriting,( I have also a Philips DVDR1000 standalone recorder, that is +RW), and DVD-R for only writing (they are cheaper than the +R)and give to the clients.
