My recordings skip now. What could be causing this? -Sound Forge - PC

I have recorded my caccette tapes onto my HD and burned them on CD. Everything has got exelent so far (about 75 tapes). I kind of stoped for a while, but I have a bunch more I want to do. I tried it last night and the recording skipped when I went and played it back. I deleted it and defraged, recorded it over again. It skippes again. What causes a recording to skip? I have checked my drive and it has no errors. I've defraged so it should be good. Just to be clear. I record my tape onto my Hard drive. When I play it back from the drive before I burn it, it skippes around. It does it alot, so something is not right. What could it be? Thank you, Chris.
