Subject:Acid Music 3.0 v Sony Screenblast Acid - Same?

I was about to purchase SoFo's Acid Music 3.0 product, when I noticed the press release regarding Sony's new ownership, and the links to their Screenblast MusicStudio product.

One Amazon customer review mentioned that Acid Music 3.0 and Screenblast MusicStudio were really the same software... with Screenblast's Acid 2.0 component re-branded. The fact that Screenblast's Acid component comes with Beatmapper also suggests that this is based on the Acid Music 3.0 build, rather than Acid Music 2.0 (which I believe didn't include Beatmapper).

Any advice on which product I should purchase? If future development will be under the Sony Screenblast brand, perhaps it would be better to buy into this family now for a consumer (non-Pro) Acid product?

Also, should I just bite the bullet and go for Acid 4.0 Pro? Anything you think I'll miss if I go the non-Pro route with either product?

Thanks

Sony's Screenblast line is old news; they've been reselling SonicFoundry software under that name for years.

I think you're right in assuming that MusicStudio is currently Acid 3 rather than 2. It certainly looks that way in the screenshots. I think the one thing MusicStudio has going for it is that it includes SonicFoundry's SIREN, which is arguably the best music player/jukebox ever created. On the other hand, there are numerous complaints that it's almost impossible to get support for the Screenblast versions. Personally, i'd go with the SonicFoundry version to get the support.

4.0 Pro is great software with more extra features than you can imagine. It's also much more expensive.
