I recorded a graduation and tapped into the sound board for my audio.
I didnt notice that the guy that used my camera last week switched the setting on the xlr to mic.
As a result I have a background noise. Not real bad, but its there. What would be the best way to lower or remove this?Im looking under effects and processes but not sure which particular method to try.
Any help appreciated asap.
thanks
jim

Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction is perfect for this, provided the wave file consists of a piece where only the background noise is audible. this only has to be a few seconds max, tho. check out the main SF website for more info on Noise Reduction.

Yeah i would try noise reduction, or in the paragraphic equalizer try the hiss cut, that might work.

If the feed from the sound board output is line level and your cam input was set to mic, you probably have distortion.. NR or anything else can't fix that.
