Subject:no audio input in SF 6

Have just installed SF 6a but cannot get any audio input from sound card or CD Rom when in Record window. When Monitor is ticked there is about -45db of noise or something showing in meters. Can anyone help. Worked fine in 4.5.

Did you select your soundcard in Options > Preferences > Wave? Did you select the correct recording input in your soundcard's record applet? Generic Windows cards = Double-click the speaker icon in the systray > Options > Properties > Recording > OK...

... and if you are getting -45dB noise with no input enabled, you need a better soundcard . Maybe you have an open cct input (like aux, or mic) selected, but that figure is still pretty bad.

I'm using an onboard AC97 sound card. Also have C-Media 3D card but no input with trhat as well.

Are you saying that neither one shows up in Options > Preferences > Wave?

Reinstalled software of other sound card (C-Media) and all works now. Thanks for help.
