Im using SampleTank in Acid. Set up one instance of SampleTank with patches in channel 1 and 2. Two midi tracks with SampleTank selected as the VSTi and midi channels 1 and 2 selected.

Seems simple enough but I only get the channel 1 sampletank sounds being output from eitther midi track. Am I missing something?

i don't think ACID supports multi instument VSTi's. so, in this case you'd need to open 2 instances of Sampletank, since you can only use Channel 1 per instance. i have the same issue with Edirol VSTi's.

I confirm this: you need to open 2 instances of Sampletank.

I'm working on a project now with 8 tracks going to 1 instance of Edirols Orchestral and 3 tracks going to 1 instance of Kontakt.

When dealing with more than 1 midi track per VSTi you have to control the Vol, Pan, FX, Patch and Bank changes from each midi track assn. to that VSTi.

I don't use Sample tank, sorry I can't help with that one.

George,

can you be a bit more specific on how you got several Midi tracks assigned to 1 instance of Orchestral? i'd really like to try that out, as the inefficiency of having to open several instances of the same VSTi is annoying.

George is in a session but maybe I can help.
What I do is open Orchestral and I start on midi ch 1 select a bank and patch and record nothing new right?

Now to keep the bank, patch, vol, pan bla, bla, bla for that track insert a patch change at the top of that midi file. Do not touch the track vol or the bus vol control that from the track proprieties of each track you add.

Now I want to record another track to Orchestral
I set my midi controller to transmit on midi ch2 and repeat the same steps you did on midi ch1

Or

change the first track (midi ch 1) to midi ch2 and start recording on midi ch 1 again.

Im cutting this short because my 9 o'clock is here

If you want e-mail myself or George and we can send you a Acid.zip session that you can play with and see how we did it we even have some pan automations and stuff like that on subject put Acid midi help I'll let George and the other guy's know.

O-Tae?
