Subject:SX and ACID?

Now that 4.0d has support for rewire, can I use it with Cubase SX? I read the notes and it says it's a HOST. This is basically useless unless you are using ACID as your main app with something like reason, no?

ACID 4.0 is, as you've noted, a ReWire host only. You cannot use it within Cubase SX. It cannot act as a ReWire device, at least maybe not until 5.0.

Your second question's answer would be subjective, based upon what one would use. "Useless" is not a term I would personally use just because ACID can't be used within Cubase. I'd counter with, Why can't Cubase act as a ReWire device within ACID? ;o)

It would make more sense (to me) for Acid to be a Device instead of Host, given the type of app that it is. Most people aren't doing final mixes in it, and you cant track more that a stereo track at a time.

Does FL work ok within Acid 4d as a VSTi?

FL works Ok in Acid although it is a bit fiddly in that I find I always have to edit the rendered wav file to get rid of the first bar as it always has the metronome click generated by FL. Now I tend to go back in to FL render the track there then import the wav back into Acid.

hmmm, A looping application that only functions as a master in rewire mode. Well, I really appreciate SF effort in putting rewire into this update, but until it can run as a CLIENT, it's still just an "export loop" application for me at best.
