Subject:drop in sound level

I am trying to isolate a channel by dragging it out of original window to new window. Now I have an isolated channel. Trouble is, when I play it back, the sound level is greatly reduced. What happened and how can I fix? Please help.

With only one channel, stereo 'centre' information (ie most significant parts) will be only half the voltage it could be with both channels driven, so will sound about 6dB down.

What I think you really want to do is to convert the stereo file into a mono file, which is a different thing. Try Process | Channel Converter (and read the manual/help for explanation).
