Ive been told that changing your PC in the "Device Manager" to Standard PC from the ACPI setting improves timing and dropouts? I did this and had to re-install everything! After that went back to Acid 4d (using latest drivers for Gina24 (audio) and Midisport 4x4 (MIDI) , played back and audio and MIDI track - its still out!! it drifts after 16 bars?? - HELP!! Also now under the "improved" standard PC setting , opening anything new, MSN, another prog etc, causes jumps/stuttrs etc!! Anyone else using this setting? or shall i put it back to ACPI again? (under this i could have loads of things open at once and audio would stay in time (MIDI never has...!!) Help!! BTW : P4 2.41 1024mb RAM Gina24 Midisport 2x2 |

"Standard PC" may be considered for a Windows 2000 machine but XP works excellent as an ACPI system out of the box. This tweak should never be attempted once the OS is installed because as you have seen...it will require a complete re-install. Also this tweak does not perform very well at all if attempted after the OS is up and running. It's best to do this during the install of the OS. When I was running WIN2K...this work very well for me. Cheers, Cuzin B |

The acpi theory is a bit of a lie. based on an old hammerfall document from the beta 2 period of win2k development reset your pnp os to no in the bios and put the acpi support back where it was |
