I recently downloaded a demo of Live. The FX blow Acid out of the water and Live is better for stage performance. But I think Acid is easier to work with in the studio. Has anyone else used it?

if live was only 50 to 75 bucks it might be worth it, but now that we have rewire acid is the superior app.

live is only worth 200 bucks if you only have a mac or you really need to use it err...live.

i played with the demo and IMHO the GUI sucks, it's not as intuitive and some things are just plain wrong with Live.

i don't think Live can import MP3 or cd audio yet, something acid pro been doing for years.

as far as FX the ones included with live are flashier than the basics that come with acid, but it's nothing you can't get from a third party VST for free. my UAD card and waves effects are 100 times better than anything in both apps, although i can't stop using that damn track eq in acid. it's just way too convenient.

coolout-

Which free VST are you using that sounds "100 times better" than Live? I would love to hear it.

Even if Live's FX are better, I'll do not "jump". I love too much Acid Pro 4!

I cant download the form you have to fill in for some reason...

How much is the Crossgrade?....

.....and do you just have to give in your serial number - (i had a download of Acid 4)

what can it do that Acid can't????

Live has a very un-intuitive GUI imho. i tried the demo and wasn't impressed at all. the only thing it has over ACID is Rewire Slave capabilities, but even that advantage will likely be nullified when ACID 5.0 is released. so i'll just stick with ACID. :)

Depends on your gig. Acid is a music creation tool. Live is a music creation and performance tool. If you perform or DJ, Live is a MUST HAVE. It does not stutter or crash. The beat matching capabilities are more advanced. You can pre-listen to loops before playing for everyone to hear. The FX are better and easier to apply than in Acid. You can record your Live performance and edit later.

I just played with the demo, so I'm sure there are other features that I don't know about. For me, Live probably won't replace Acid, but it sure does add to the arsenal.

sponge go to http://www.databaseaudio.co.uk/ or http://www.vstcentral.com/ and i promise you'll find a FREE vst effect that is as good or better than the ones that come with Live. FX should be an issue in comparing either app.

as far as using Live...er live, i don't think it's that big of deal.

for the record, i am a D.J. (among other things of course) and i'd much rather do a complete composition burn it to a cd and play it on a pioneer deck (i love those guys) in my set than lug my laptop, just so some guy who isn't even dancing can stare over my shoulder and watch me "arrange" the track "live".
