problems syncing 4.0 to digital 8 track HELP!!!!!!! -ACID Product Family

hello, please help, i'm trying to sync up my acid 4.0 program to be the master to my roland vs 880 so i can record each individual track into my pc and the tracks will sync up. but when i do this the audio stutters and pops then sometimes stops altogether. but when i use the roland to master acid it doesn't do it but then i can't start and stop recording at the same time and my tracks won't sync up. for some reason i remember being able to do this with 2.0. any help please. thanks
