Greetings all, I have recently downloaded and installed the 4.0d update, which was nice. However, I have just tried to burn an audio CD of one of my projects and the following error occurred: Sonic Foundry ACID Pro 4.0 Version 4.0d (Build 392) Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) WRITE:0x0 IP:0x77F52109 In Module 'ntdll.dll' at Address 0x77F50000 + 0x2109 Thread: GUI ID=0x7BC Stack=0x12E000-0x130000 Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=001b EIP=77f52109 EFLGS=00010246 EBX=00140000 SS=0023 ESP=0012e2a0 EBP=0012e2ac ECX=00000000 DS=0023 ESI=08a72fe0 FS=0038 EDX=08a72f80 ES=0023 EDI=08a72f80 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 77F52109: 89 01 89 48 04 74 56 8A ...H.tV. 77F52111: 47 05 A8 04 0F 85 D3 18 G....... Does anyone else have this problem? More importantly, does anyone know how to fix it? I suppose I could render as a .wav and use Easy CD Creator in the meantime, but I was quite happy with the results I'd obtained from within Acid (previous to the update of course) not to mention the convenience of not having to run another/extra software app. Plus I'm not convinced that the .wav file sounds as good as what's running within the project. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help proffered. One Love, Spy! |

We are looking into this problem, but it is not consistently reproducible for us just yet. In the meantime, your best bet is to render the project as .wav, and burn the rendered wav file from another application. This is exactly what ACID does when it burns CDs -- we run through the exact same render code, we just do it in little pieces, and don't leave a wav file behind in the end. So the end result will sound the same, regardless of which approach you use. Thanks. Frank Shotwell |

Can you describe the project you had when this crash occured? Did it have any VSTi, Specific FX, ReWire connections, etc, etc. How long was the project - (time.) Peter |

"Can you describe the project you had when this crash occured? Did it have any VSTi, Specific FX, ReWire connections, etc, etc. How long was the project - (time.) Peter" Greetings Frank & Peter, First of all thank you for your swift replies. To answer Peter's questions, yes the first (i.e. my latest) project I tried to burn had a total of 3 VSTis. The whole project has 14 or 15 (or possibly 16) tracks routed to four group busses, which in turn were routed to the master. The 'Drums' buss has reverb and wavehammer (drums), the 'Bass' buss has graphic EQ and wavehammer (bass) and the master fader has wavehammer (master for 16-bit). There are other FX settings on individual tracks and I think I've got an EQ on the 'Percussion' buss as well but I can't remember the exact settings and I can't have a look right now because I'm in my 'Office' partition on my PC. The second (older) project I tried it on (see first post for error details) was all .wav files (loops and one-shots). Again I can't be specific about the FX used, however I have already burned this project (before the update) without any problems, which is why I chose it as a 'test subject'. I don't have any Propellerhead software so I don't (and don't know how to) use Rewire. HTH One Love, Spy! P.S. If you need me to be more specific - I'll reply from my 'Studio' partition next time and I'll be able to tell you exactly what goes where. |

Did you get a buffer underrun before that error/ I've seen something like that esp w complex projects. Wish there was a way to do a temoprary render, and THEN burn. A-9 |

I am going to uninstall/reinstall Acid to see if that cures the problem. I've also re-downloaded the update. Please let me know if there's any progress at the SoFo end. TIA One Love, Spy! |

Just to add to my earlier post, I've done the un/re-install using the fresh download of the update. I tried to burn a CD using the 'Test then burn' option. It ran through the test part but as soon as it was about to burn the audio the error came up again: Sonic Foundry ACID Pro 4.0 Version 4.0d (Build 392) Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) WRITE:0x0 IP:0x77F52B6A In Module 'ntdll.dll' at Address 0x77F50000 + 0x2B6A Thread: GUI ID=0x120 Stack=0x12E000-0x130000 Registers: EAX=00140100 CS=001b EIP=77f52b6a EFLGS=00010212 EBX=00140000 SS=0023 ESP=0012e110 EBP=0012e334 ECX=00000000 DS=0023 ESI=02d6a568 FS=003b EDX=00000000 ES=0023 EDI=0000000c GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 77F52B6A: 89 0A 89 51 04 3B CA 74 ...Q.;.t 77F52B72: 2E 29 7B 28 89 75 8C 83 .){(.u.. Okay, just to update the problem only seems to occur when I choose 'Test and burn audio'. If I choose 'Burn audio' it works. I've even burnt a copy of the 'latest' project (with the VSTis, Wavehammer, etc.), finalized and played in my old consumer CD player - result! I haven't tried to 'Test and burn' again yet so I don't know if the problem cured itself or not but I don't want to start making coasters because I have to choose the 'Burn audio' option. So, if any of the SoFo fellas are looking into this, please don't let this post stop you ;) One Love, Spy! |

We have discovered the problem and a fix. Until the update is released the work around is as follows: - Disable all MIDI input ports in the ACID MIDI prefs page before you burn - Burn - Re-enable the MIDI input ports you want to use Peter |

Thank you Peter and all at So(ny)Fo, you guys are the best. I apologize if I came across as a whinger before. Personally, (and I'm not just saying this for the sake of saying something) I am very, very pleased with SoFo's products, customer service and forums and I am glad to be a part of it. One Love, Spy! |
