What one VSTi would be the best choice? -ACID Product Family

Subject:What one VSTi would be the best choice? Posted by: luces Date:6/2/2003 10:24:57 AM I am looking into getting a new VSTi package and I am really wanting to get into it with some good knowledge. So, if any of you have a lot of VSTi's please suggest what you think the ONE for me would be. I am mostly interested in good organic sounding instruments, such as orch (strings, violins, flutes brass,etc) gtrs(nylon steel, maybe some ethnic type stringed stuff) and pianos. Any thoughts? Luces

A friend of mine told me it's great for such instruments, maybe the best in VSTi. BUT, why choosing VSTi for that? it exists some GREAT Orchestra loop libraries for Acid. Regards, jam

Reply by: ATP Date:6/2/2003 10:56:46 AM Orchestral is indeed quite amazing, as are all Edirol VSTi's imho. however, they suck where guitar sounds are concerned. in fact, i have yet to find a VSTi that can simulate a guitar at near-perfect quality. btw, if you have the money to spare, Reason 2.0 comes with a seperate cd filled with orchestra sounds. flutes, hobos, strings, cellos, harps, you name it. might be worth checking out. as for loop libraries, loops don't have touch sensitivity nor modulation controls, and most of them can't be used over the entire spectrum of the note range (try pitching a C3 string to the C5-G5 range, it will sound like crap). if you want to compose your own melodies then imho you should go for the VSTi solution.
