Subject:Acid 4 Midi with Roland XV-2020 External Synth

hiya!

the midi functions look pretty nice in 4.0c.

however, i'm wondering if there is a way to setup "instrument definitions" similar to the way Sonar 2.2 does.

if not, is the only method available at this time for multi-timbral patch changes, via a patch change event?

more simply:

i have 16 channels available with the Roland XV-2020 in multi-timbral mode. each channel with a different sound. is there an easy way to access this in Acid 4.0c?

i hope that's clear.

thanks in advance.

We have a JV-2080, XV-3080 and a 5080 That we can send bank & patch changes to. I don't know if it will work for a 2020. Let me find that info.

Thanks Tony!!!

pretty fast response time with these forums.

i'm new, and VERY impressed. glad to be a part of the "family"!

if i can get Acid talking to my XV-2020, i doubt i'll need any other MIDI software!

Hey Tony
Here ya go, This is for the Roland XV-5080
Insert a Patch at the top of your midi track in the List Editor.
enter this in the following fields

Bank MSB=87=(Int Presets) 0=(GM Mode)
Bank LSB=0 USER
Bank LSB=64 PR-A
Bank LSB=65 PR-B
Bank LSB=66 PR-C
Bank LSB=67 PR-D
Bank LSB=68 PR-E
Bank LSB=69 PR-F
Bank LSB=70 PR-G
Patch=0-127 (remember Roland and Edirol are 0 based so if you want patch 10 enter 9)

I hope this helps.

Tagging on to this thread, is it possible to import the definitions save somewhere and have them available rather than having to edit each time...Level Vibes

i'm a little confused:

so, i enter

Bank MSB=87
Bank LSB=0 USER
Bank LSB=64 PR-A
Bank LSB=65 PR-B
Bank LSB=66 PR-C
Bank LSB=67 PR-D
Bank LSB=68 PR-E
Bank LSB=69 PR-F
Bank LSB=70 PR-G
Patch=0-127

as seperate patch events in the list editor?

what about patch changes? i'm not a midi expert by any means. just trying to synch up the patch naming convention with my XV-2020.

i entered the above, and the names don't match.

thanks,
fred

No Problem.

If I wanted Acid to send a Patch/Bank change from Acid to the Roland XV-5080 for Internal Preset Sounds, Bank A, Patch 004 Nice Piano.
you would enter in the following fields
MSB 87 (Int. Preset Sounds)
LSB 64 (Pre-Set Bank PR-A)
Patch 5 (Patch PR-A:004 Nice Piano)

Hope this helps
