Subject:Process->Fade Out: An Error Has Occurred...

I am using SoundForge XP Studio 5.0f and have been getting intermittent error dialogs when using Fade Out. The error message is something to the effect of "An error has occurred processing your request. Please ensure you have sufficient space in your temporary directory and try again." Repeat the command and it works fine. I am ripping tracks from CDs, add/remove silence so there is at least 1 second silence at beginning and end, normalize, then save to mp3. Sometimes fade out last few seconds as part of the trimming process and that is when the error occurs (it's very intermittent, but annoying nonetheless). The temp folder is set in preferences to d:\SoundForgeCache which is a 60GB drive with 52GB free. Windows XP Pro and SoundForge are on drive C (a different physical drive, not just a partition) which also has at least 50GB free. I save to a different machine across the network - that machine has a 120GB drive with more than 80GB free. The computer that runs SoundForge and does the ripping is a P4, 2.0Ghz, with 1GB Ram. Even after ripping an entire CD with 15 or more tracks and a bunch of other apps running, there will be over 300MB of physical memory free. I really think the error message belies the real problem as I should have far more than enough memory and disk space to process a 5 second fade out on a wav file. Any ideas on what could be causing this error message? It's obviously not a huge problem but I am curious as to how to fix it. |

So nobody has experienced this particular problem and no SoundForge engineers can venture an opinion as to what it causing it? |

I have this problem, too -- EVERY time I use the Fade Out and the Trim/Crop. I'd like to know how I can fix this, because it's very annoying. |
