I have been using the Acid family for a while now. I also had it running on my Windows 2003 Server a couple of months ago. But after a Kazaa virus hit my comp, i had to reformat everything (and wipe the MBR).

But everything being fine now, I reinstalled Win2k3, and all my apps, but now Acid 4.0 doesnt work anymore!!! The main logo pops up loads for a bit, and then disappears and nothing else happens. Is it becuase of some lame video or audio codec? I am using a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum EX sound card. Wierd thing is, Acid 3.0 demo works on it perfectly!?

Please HELP!!!!

Btw, here is the error that Win2k3 generates:

Faulting application acid40.exe, version 4.0.0.390, faulting module sfdlssynth.dll, version 1.0.0.24, fault address 0x00004170

contact SoFo tech support see links above. they will help you out. (obviously providing that you bought your copy and didn't d/l it from Kazaa.

This error indicates that the Windows DLS softsynth is failing upon initialization.

What version of DirectX do you have installed?

By jolly, I think your right about the DirectX idea. I think I was running DX 8.1, if I remember correctly, I had DX 9.0a installed on my previously installation of Win2k3. The installation of DX 9, totally slipped my mind. I'll see if DX 9 does the trick. Thanks for your help.
