Subject:Using Acid Pro with Absynth VSTi

Hey fellas,
Does anyone know if it's possible to automate/switch presets in Absynth and record these changes in Acid's sequencer? Or can one only use one preset per instance?

Thanx for any help!

Ok I figured it but... there seem to be one more problem I've encountered

Why does Acid cause Absynth to revert back to the first preset in the bank loaded when I try to either enable or solo the MIDI input in Absynth?
This is becoming a real hassle cause I'm using more than one track with Absynth and I keep having to go back and locate the preset which I was using prior to it defaulting to the 1st preset after I enabled or solo the MIDI input for that track.

Can anybody help me? Thanx

I have this problem as well, I can have multiple instances of absynth VSTi running, but once you toggle between instances you lose your presets. I gave up trying to use multi instances, I now render out the absynth track and then add another. Not sure if this is an absy thing or ACID, I hope this gets sorted out in Absyhth 2.0.

I doubt the problem is with Absynth as this problem does not happen when I use Absynth VSTi in Muzys 3.

When using Absynth you must uncheck the ACID prefs

"Close audio and MIDI ports when ACID is not the active application"

and

"Close media file when ACID is not the active application"

Why?

Absynth loads an application, when you switch to it, ACID attempts to close things up to be a nice Windows app. This can lead to some of the problems experianced.

Disabling the two items above will prevent ACID from pulling the rug out from under Absynth.

Hi Peter,

I've done what you suggested

1.Unchecked ---"Close audio and MIDI ports when ACID is not the active application"

and

2.Unchecked "Close media file when ACID is not the active application"

and the same thing happens. The presets default to the first one whenever I try to enable or solo the MIDI input for a particular instance of Absynth. I've even tried to restart Acid Pro after following your instructions but I keep getting the same problem.

have you actually tried this using Absynth and it worked for you and other users?
or am I doing something wrong?

We have tested against Absynth and the beta testers have not reported any issues.

MacMoney any ideas here?

4.0c is just about out the door. All reports have indicated a much improved VSTi hosting experiance. (VSTis that gave ACID fits in 4.0b no longer do.)

Hi Peter
I'm using Absynth 1.3.4 in a session now with no problems.
When I had re-open this session and it couldn't fine the factory preset so I pointed it to the Vstplugins>Absynth folder it loaded fine, I've been running it now for four hours on XP Pro with not a glitch on digi 001 ASIO drivers. I'm only running one instance in this session. And I do have it set up the way you posted Peter.

on another note i saw this same behavior with Pro 53 where if i change/edit a preset and i stop the playback and hit "rewind" to the begenning of the session... Pro 53 resets to the original settings on the preset... is Acid sending some sort of CC msg to do that and can that be filtered out..dunno just shooting out ideas guys......

If you have a track that was copied from a track that has a patch change yes it will respond to that patch change.
Are these tracks imported from Cakewalk, Cubase or recorded in Acid 4?
Check Track Properties, List Editor and see if you have a patch change it should be in blue type. If you want send me or I can send you a test midi track for Pro-53 and Absynth. I would be more than happy to check it out.

Outlaw are you still having this problem?
I'm not seeing it here, have you talked to George?
Go by and try it out on one of George's systems.

I found it. This only happens when you have Auto Save Enabled.
I can reproduce 100%. Outlaw I didn't see it because I didn't have Auto Save enabled.
BTW this is in Acid 4.0d

Peter?
