If I record an audio file and save as a regular .wav file the saving is instantaneous even if it is a two hour long wav file. If I save as .w64 format it takes forever to save. Why is this? Thanks in advance. |

The regular .wav file is actually being saved to disk as a temporary file while you record, so when you "save" it, all SoundForge has to do is change the name of this file and move it to the desired directory, which can be done nearly instantaneously. When you save to any other format, or even to a different drive, then SondForge must create and write a new file. |
