Acid doesn't render DTS output. To make DTS, you need to render 6 mono wavs and import them to encoder software like Minnetonka SurCode. BWO |

I am taking you very seriously. To provide a DTS encoder would not be free. Just like we charge for the AC3 surround package, we would have to charge for a DTS encoder. These encoders are licensed from their developers, just like MP3 encoders are. So, if there was significant demand and a willingness of the end user to license a DTS encoder, we would very seriously look at this option. Peter |

ok look,i am serious. the point is and it is getting lost big time, does sonic have plans for a dts encoder package,plug in,whatever.if not where else should i look?i have one decent answer that said minnetonka and i am looking into it BUT is this the only option out there.this is not a money issue, it is a user question.hypothetically speaking lets say i am willing to invest in such a product and that money is not an issue.where can i look?is sonic seriously looking at this option?there is demand out there from serious and professional sonic users.thank you. |

moonlight, please re-read Peter's response directly before your last post. I believe that answers your question rather well. It seems that SonicFoundry has not seen significant interest in having a DTS encoder. Please go here http://www.sonicfoundry.com/support/productsuggestion.asp and fill out the Product Suggestion form. Encourage other users or potential users who want DTS to do same. Many of the features and add-ins of SonicFoundry's software have been developed because of these product suggestions. |

I know you are serious. So am I. If the demand indicates that a DTS encoder is warrented, then we will develope one. Currently there are no plans to do this. The only stand alone converter I am aware of is the Minitonka one. There are also hardware based solutions and other complete editing packages as well that support DTS encoding. Peter |

Seems that there aren't many software encoders for DTS. In addition to SurCode standalone encoder, Nuendo and Pro Tools have DTS plugins. BWO |

Peter, when will the surround panner get the discreet center panning feature? I've been discussing this with you since last february and Steve Murphy sent very good reasons why discreet center is important. I have sent two product suggestion forms too. I'm now forced to use other programs to get surround mixes I want. I'd like to to my projects 100% in Vegas/Acid. BWO |

Please check with PT, Nuendo, etc... the ONLY standalone encoder for DTS is the SurCode. However, the "other" programs offer 6 channel files saves, just like VV4 or ACID. You can buy "their plug-in" but if you look closely it is just re-vised work around on the SurCode technology. But have you checked the price? Personally for the cost and for the amount of call (requests) I have had for DTS encoding - (NONE), I do not think DTS with VV4 would be something that I would be interested in paying an additional $500 to $600.00 and a fee for every encoding I did with it to warrent the price. I currently produce 5:1, 6:1 7:1 and even 9:1 files and feel that if my customer/client wants DTS, THEY can pay for it - elsewhere. |
