Cakewalk VST Adapter 4.3 wont work in Soundforge 6.0 -Sound Forge - PC

Subject:Cakewalk VST Adapter 4.3 wont work in Soundforge 6.0 Posted by: werner Date:5/22/2003 12:09:58 PM Hello, i recently installed the new Cakewalk VST Adapater 4.3 (prior i had the FXPansion vst adapter, but its the same one cause cakewalk bought the right from fxpansion). well, i it converted all my VST plugins to directx plugins as usually and everything appears in cool edit pro and cubase and some other hosts. only in soundforge there is no more converted plugins listed. if i open a old chain in the plugin chainer that used some of this converted plugins before, it still opens them but as plugin name it displays "<Unregistered>". altough all the parameters are there and they work, just i cant add anymore of them, they are simply not listed under directx plugins. i looked in the dx plugin manager under "all" but nothing there. everything is listed & working in all other applications. any help or fix for that? i also tried clearing the DXCache value in the registry and soundforge did re-read all plugins (and i am sure i seen the VST* plugs when SF was re-scanning them at the start) but they simply dont appear anymore. Go back to 4.1 or earlier. As I was beta testing the 4.2 beta last January, I reported to Angus ( former FXpansion VST-DX Adapter developer) that there was a bug in the adapter that would cause any wrapped VST plugin to crash SF6 & SF5 once you closed the plugin shell. I was surprised to find that the Cakewalk VST-DX 4.3 Adapter did the exact same thing. Obviously, my bug report fell on deaf ears. I went back to the 4.1 version and all is well again. No sense banging your head against the wall, just uninstall 4.3 and reinstall the 4.1 or earlier version. Otherwise, forget about using the adapter with SF6 or SF5. Billy Buck

The latest version crashed SF and other non-Cakewalk apps. I sent Cake tech support an e-mail in the hopes the will look into it, but I'm still using the old FXpansion 4.1. Take care
Subject:RE: Cakewalk VST Adapter 4.3 wont work in Soundforge 6.0 Reply by: Spheris Date:5/23/2003 10:58:50 AM The adapter is working, and quite a bit better than previous version but if used after the older version, all dir must be moved and then plugins then rescanned after a clean up with regcompact (found by doing a google search) then used in the chainer only, they do not work at all from the normal menu but so goes the tragedy of inferior plugin technology (despise vst plugs as what they are - standardized my ass) hope this helps

As far as I know 4.1 works fine. I never had to close, reopen etc. etc..... it just worked. After returning to it.... it just works. I and others have written to Cakewalk, I hope they take the problem seriously and fix it. ..... wow.... going to 4.3 sure is progress???? Music and computers... gotta love it! Take care
