Subject:Recording tracks as loop files

Hi,

Does anyone know a way to record tracks in ACID 3.0 as loop files? As it stands now, all my newly recorded tracks record as beatmap files. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryder

Solo the particular recorded track, set the Loop Region over the area of the track you'd like to bounce down and use CTRL+M.

Note the length in time of the area bounced will determine if it will become a Loop or not. By default, anything shorter than 30 seconds will become a Loop.

Be sure to set the desired volume of the track before bouncing, as that's taken into account during the render.

Thanks Iacobus, I will give that a shot.

Is there any way that the newly recorded track will automatically become a Loop as it is being recorded, so that it never sees life as a beatmap or one-shot? My aim is to reduce the burden on my slow hard drive.

Thanks,
Ryder

You're welcome.

I don't think there is a way offhand. I'm sure SoFo thought of this as a failsafe mechanism, as Loops, if they're big enough, can eat RAM like candy. Record long enough and it would probably crash ACID (and your whole system).

From a personal standpoint, I'd record as a One-shot and tweak as a Loop.

Also, go to the Audio tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar. Use the "Open files as loops if between" setting. Adjust the rightmost field. By default, it's 30 seconds and can be increased to 300 seconds (or five minutes).

If you max out this setting and bounce down a segment of audio that's at its max is under five minutes, it should turn into a Loop when bounced. Beware, as I've said, that long Loop files can eat RAM away. Be sure to consult the memory usage meter in the bottom right.
