Fatal ACID playback & save as ERROR -ACID Product Family

Subject:Fatal ACID playback & save as ERROR Posted by: Byzdalmyt Date:5/20/2003 10:08:59 AM I have had this trouble now & then for quite some time. It doesn't happen on all of my ACD projects & if never been able to determine what causes it. I was not able to solve the problem thru email support & it seemed to eventually get better. Now it's doing it again. Sonic Foundry Email support gave me all of the basics to do, some of which I had already done including: Turn off graphics accelerator, MS Config, Frequent defrags & scan disks, disc clean ups, etc. I also ran System Settings and it doesn't show that I have any IRQ conflicts, etc. Here's the nasty error, exactly as it appears in the window: "Sfacid has caused an error in SFACID.EXE. Sfacid will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer" Of course, restarting the computer doesn't change anything. If only it was that simple. This happens during playback of some ACD projects. Now, it also happens to the same project if I try to SAVE AS a WAV file, to burn to CD, etc. The current project I'm working on has been working fine, now all of a sudden it keeps doing this. All I did was change a few levels & save. Nothing new was recorded or added to it. I am currently using ACID PRO 2.0d build 168. I have even reinstalled it & it hasn't changed anything. Windows ME 858 Pentium 3 512 RAM 30 GIG Harddrive (with 19.67 still available) Soundblaster Extigy external soundcard (please don't blame it - as this problem was around last year, before I ever switched to this) Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've troubleshot everything from taking out effects, to trying to play just a few tracks from the mix. Either way I keep getting that error on this particular project. I have 12 other projects for this CD that are currently fine. A few of them had done this before, but now I'm down to just this one. I'm not having any luck in deciphering why this one isn't working now, when it was working 4 days ago.

I thought that maybe my ACID 2.0d could've been the issue, since I've troubleshot every other single thing I could think of. This same project locks up at about 2:30 - 3:00 min into the song. This doesn't give me the error the 2.0 was giving me. ACID 4.0 just freezes up. The mouse still moves, but when you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, it shows it as NOT RESPONDING When I try to render this exact same project to a WAV file (even after saving it as a new ACD file thru ACID 4.0) it won't go past 52%. The elapsed timer will keep counting, but nothing else happens. So is it my Hard Drive, Operating system, Memory (?). None of those make sense, because I have projects that are longer and have more tracks/events than this one & they don't freeze up or refuse to render to WAV.
