I cannot get my copy of ACID 4.0 to see any drivers for my SB live! 5.1 platinum, or the ASIO that run cubase, are there compatibility issues?

Yes. We don't expose the Stienberg supplied Multimedia or DirectSound ASIO driver wrappers as they can conflict with our multiple instance capability.

You must use native ASIO drivers vs the Wrappers.

If I have heard right, there are no ASIO drivers released by Creative for the 5.1 only the Audigy. That said, there is a really good set of drivers by THE KX Project that do give you ASIO support in ACID 4.0 (I just did it on a friends). Do a search on Google for them. I'll see if I can post a link.

PS-Did you know that you can re-use your LIVE DRIVE bay with an Audigy(not Audigy 2) card. That way you can just buy the Gamer version for £50 and save a fortune!
