Ableton live as good as Acid? -ACID Product Family

I then went back to Acid and thought "can Acid do that?". So I started fiddling and sure enough virtually everything Abelton did, Acid did too - although usually it took more clicks. I found Ableton song timeline much inferior to Acid, but Ableton is way better for jamming - which is hardly surprising since that's primarily what its designed for. I love the way you can just record short pieces into it and start them looping, then switch to another pattern and do the same thing - a beautiful way to work. Unfortunately this alone wasn't worth the price since I already have 90% of the functionality in Acid.

Reply by: spesimen Date:5/13/2003 4:12:25 PM the one thing it does better is the equivalent of beatmapping - it allows you to set arbitrary points for stretching, so you can accurately beatmap a track that doesn't have perfect tempo or that has changing tempos. this is really handy for working with a live drum track for instance. the ability to sort of put together and preview different groups of loops on the fly is also handy. i totally wish acid would let me store and recall mute groups, which would allow for similar functionality. i think acid is much more intuitive for basic tracking and editing though.
