This is the Acid Family, which is linked to FruityLoops, right? So, help me here. I tried to save a file from FruityLoops as a MIDI file, then export it to Acid. MIDI files have no data from FruityLoops, for some reason... I can transfer as wav files, but I cannot add extra tracks to them. Also, on Acid, I can't sync new tracks to start where I want them to. And the drag icon only drags from each bar, and not exactly where I want it. I can't even hear what I imported while attempting to record to it. One more thing, it seems that you can play instruments or notes off of a midi device, such as my keyboard, to FruityLoops, or playback music off fruityloops to your keyboard. Anyone have answers to these if you have time? Appreciate it..... By the way, my computer is only 2 years old, so nothing wrong with my sound card. |

I'm no rocket-scientist (MIDI expert), but I believe what you're talking about goes back to the technology format. MIDI is sequenced, other audio is not. This creates an incompatibility of sorts. This is why you can't convert a WAV to MIDI, and why if you covert a MIDI to a WAV, you only record the MIDI and save the result as a WAV file. MIDI is nice, but there's very little there in terms of flexibility and portability. |

MIDI is a standardized (sort-of) method of communicating between musical devices (thus the name Musical Instrument Digital Interface). It has been used in various ways in the past 25+/- years, but it is mainly used for sending "note" information to MIDI-capable synthesizers. Is your copy of Acid aware of the MIDI devices connected to the computer? You will have to tell it how the device (your keyboard) is connected. Apparently, you have already configured Fruityloops. Not to sound contrary or anything but: MIDI is VERY flexible and portable ... if you can, you just save the file as a .mid and open it in Acid. There is no importing or exporting ... since the MIDI specification was standardized any device which uses MIDI must be able to read the basic MIDI spec. I think you might need to do some research on MIDI. As for your soundcard ... I don't know what it is. I doubt there is anything "wrong" with it ... but that's subjective. Just because it's new doesn't make it good. Doug |

Yes, I did save a file from flps as mid., but I guess I have no clue where to go from there in Acid. Now, I save a file from flps as mid., then when I open it in Acid, am I supposed to completely remake instruments on it with Acid? Or will it remember the data I used on flps? I guess this is where I get lost, cause i cannot hear anything from midi files.... only if i open files in Acid as wav, can i hear anything. I want to use the beat's that I make off FruityLoops, open them up in Acid, and use the instrument arrangements from Acid, with the beats... (if this is possible) Now, if this is possible, my next issue, was trying to hear the file, while I record to it. It seems when I record, off my keyboard to Acid, it starts 2 beats after the actual time i wanted it to start. LOL Yeah, I have a lot of music in my head to put down, but I'm a moron with this Acid and MIDI issue. I'll admit. And FruityLoops is killin me softly with these crazy sounds they call instruments!! LOL To all who helps with this, I really appreciate it. If you like, I'm on yahoo as *dabrwnhornet*, where we can actually chat and walk through some of these. |
