Anyone know if it's possible when copying and pasting one shots ,to paste them without affecting the rest of the other oneshots positions?.... i.e. Once i have copied and selected the place on the time line where im going to paste it has the undesired effect of moving all the oneshots up the timeline by the amount pasted

Have you got 'ripple edit' turned on??

As John said, turn on ripple edits on if they aren't on. (CTRL+L is the shortcut.)
