First DVD not good - advice?

Just did my first DVD with VV4/DVDA and am pretty dissapointed with the results.

Issue One:
3 - 1/2 hours to render a 6 minute MPEG2 file? Athlon 1.2 Ghz, 7200 rpm, using DVDA template. Over half the program is 2 layers of video, using video envelopes to track picture in picture, but the times I'm seeing here are significantly lower.

Issue two:
Image quality not great, especially on panning shots. The screen looks as if has soft edged venetian blinds that lag behind the rest of the image. It's more obvious in the analog footage that was digitized through a DAC-2, although those artifacts were not seen in the individual clips when played through media player. DV captured footage is definitely better image quality.

Any suggestions out there?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with DVD-A or the MPEG2 encoder. I use a product called CinemaCraft, which can render at almost-real-time rates on my system. Whevever I hear of venetian-blind effects, I immediately suspect field order.

In any event, the thread has been bumped up to the top. Hopefully someone else will be able to help.
