I own my own studio and a buddy of mine has Acid. He does some alternative stuff and some hiphop. I really enjoyed working on his stuff. I mainly do advertising work but I'm missing that connection to my "roots" recording and mixing music. Hey I make $90 an hour and want to give something back. What I want to do is this: have someone send me their Acid masters and I'll transfer them to pro set-up and mix them PROFESSIONALLY. I'm thinking of doing this for $50 a song to cover my expenses and buy myself dinner in your honor :) I especially want to do this if you have a really great song you want to shop to a label and want to put that extra effort into it. Or perhaps, like my friend, you want a good mix on your song and also want a 'tight' performance version (to rap over if you're into HipHop). Like I said, I want to give a little back and do something "fun" in collaboration with someone I don't even know. Plus I can then justify buying a copy of Acid for the business (so I can do my own 'thang' as well). Let me know if any of this works for you. Mike mike@mindtheatreaudio.com |

how is a $50 fee per song a donation on your part? you make $90 an hour, just go buy the software! any reputable studio allready has the tools for any project format. like the place i mix and record vox at, he has acid, protools, sonar, logic etc, etc. as well as 1/4", 1/2", 1" adat, da88, and his new main format nuendo (and more formats that i cant recall). and he's ony $45 an hour. he has sooo much stuff. these pics are 3 years old (he has increased his collection substantually) but you can get the idea... http://www.donoteat.com/gallery_runtoses.htm not to bust you dude but just charge a fee if your going to charge a fee. donations do not carry a fee. |

If you know how to use them, Acid Pro 4, Sound Forge 6, and CD Architect 5, all provide the capability to achieve high-quality audio that rivals (and in some cases, beats) that of other products and tools. As for effort, that's up to the individual. For me, I spend on average of 120 hours per song and am very pleased with what I have. Why, after already paying ungodly prices for the SF tools, should I pay someone $50 to mix a tune for me that I (most likely) have already done a better mixing job on? I'm not trying to be rude or harsh here, only realistic. |
