Beginner tutorials

I just got V4 for personal use after lurking in this and other forums for the past 6 months. I haven't had a lot of time to sit down and play around with it yet, and I was wondering about tutorials to get me off the ground quickly. I'm not a video or NLE newbie, but Vegas' interface is a lot different than what I use at work (Avid Media Composer, After Effects), and I would just like to be able to learn the basics quickly; the more advanced stuff will fall into place after that. I downloaded the VV3 manual and was wondering about the tutorial there. Will it work on my V4, and will I need to (or be able to) download the tutorial media files? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Hi Chris. Several people here write some very good tutorials, and I'm sure they'll help you out with links to their sites. I helped put together a site that tries to be an index to all these tutorials, as well as having a long list of .veg files available for download. A lot can be learned from seeing what a .veg files does then digging in to see how it does it. The site is hosted at the Sundance Media Group.

As for using the VV3 tutorials in V4, I'm sure that will work fine. And I do expect you'd need the media.

Yes, the tutorial in the Vegas 3 manual will work fine in Vegas 4. All of the basics are still the same. That would be the first place to start, as it explains how things are done in the Vegas world. You should be able to download the tutorial files on the Vegas 3 download page. (Do a search for Vegas 3 on SF's main site and you should get the download page in one of the hits.)

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll try to download the files when I get home. After I get the basics down, I'll start working on the more advanced stuff. Thanks again.
