Vegas 4.0c???

mysteryno wrote on 5/5/2003, 3:32 PM
Vegas 4.0c was tentatively set to be released last week, fixing a Mpeg rendering video levels issue that cropped up in 4.0b, plus additional features.
Is SoFo still working on the requests for features, to bring out a better update, or did the whole Sony thing screw it up??
Eagerly awaiting a business as usual answer. (We all have to have dreams)

I'll bet they are both released at the same time.

Release it fast, it's pretty clear what will happen when SONY takes over.

VEGAS will be replace by ScreenBaster or whatever, I can be sure support will take on a new ball game.

SOFO MUST do COMMUNTIY SERVICE by finishing up the nitty gritty of 4.0c before leaving the scene.

Hopefully the 4.0c will be functional enough to wait the arrival of a better new NLE's birth.

It's be a pitty if Vegas wasn't updated when needed. Not very many companies do that anymore. I would prefer bug fixes to extra features though. Maybe with their final update (if not c) they'll include a patch file that will unlock the registeration system! That would rule!

Yikes! The registration...
please don't leave us out in the cold.
Just crashed my computer and will have to re-register it.
What if this occurs two years from now?

Well if it occurs in 2 years And the product is discontinued I guess you can use a crack...

Hey, relax guys! If Sony screws with SOFO they will screw themselves! The Japanese aren't stupid, just arrogant. They are back in the editing business with Xpri and are getting killed by Avid (again). This is their one chance to make something happen and I doubt if they will blow it. Look for SOFO to command market-share in the up-coming HD wars! Well, 'command' may be too strong a term, but the HD race is on and Xpri is running dead last. Lastly, 18 million for SOFO, chump change - all I had to do was win the lottery...

I don't know where you get your information, but on the forums I read SOFO employees have assured us it's pretty much business as usual in Madison, WI. The SOFO team will continue to develop Vegas, and there's no need to worry about our precious 4.0c, which Dr. Dropout has said will be out this week.
mysteryno wrote on 5/6/2003, 12:11 AM
Since there is no Dr. Dropout on this, Sonic Foundrys' forum, which forum are you referring to?
The only official reply that I got was a similar question I posted on the DVDA forum, from SonicEPM. The entire message was, 'on track, coming soon.'.

Dr. Dropout = SonicEPM.

"The Japanese aren't stupid, just arrogant."

Zorro2,

I'm sure you meant to say "Sony isn't stupid, just arrogant." Otherwise, one might get the impression that you were meaning to attack the character of an entire ethnic group, and not a multinational conglomerate.

Thanks,

Shawn

The "Cow" uses spyware!

Specifically "Avenue A" a tracking cookie.
jetdv wrote on 5/6/2003, 3:24 PM
Technically, that is not true. Here is a response by one of the cow's owners:

This is a cookie that is being served by one of the ads from the Atlasdmt site that you point to which has the opt-out instructions. The reason that we don't have it listed in our Code of Conduct is because it is not our cookie and we are not serving it up -- it comes from an IFRAME embedded ad that is called from the atlasdmt server you point to. Nearly every site you go to on the Net: Yahoo, MSN, industry sites like DMN, etc., etc., have this same thing. We had a choice to make *after* we learned that there was a cookie attached to the ad that we weren't serving and we decided it wasn't that big a deal as it is pretty much everywhere on the Net. The safest way to avoid it, is to stay off the Net. That's the only sure way to avoid it.

I've been using AdSubtract from Intermute for several years. Bibi ads, popups, cookies unless I allow them.

I also believe I've seen references to freeware programs but never bothered to look into them.

As far as I know, ScreenBaster is VideoFactory. No?

It won't replace Vegas4
