Subject:Sound Forge Demo Locks XP on splash screen

When ever i load Sonud Forge or Acid the system will lock at the splash screen. I have to shut the machine off and reboot because it is completly locked.
Doing some research I found the problem on the net but it refers to an ati catalyst driver that needs to be updated to fix the issue. I do not have this software installed. However to just make sure i downloaded the fixed updated driver from ATI and tried to install it. It refused because I do not have a compatible device.

Looking at the errors and log info i still believe it is a video driver issue. I am running a dell inspiron 8200 laptop. that has the ati radeon mobility 9000 video card. I can not find any drivers for it anywhere.

I did get it to load the very first time i installed it. I then did not use the product. 2 weeks later i open it up and i have this error.

I have no updated my drivers at all. Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

Did you check out Dell's site for the Mobility Radeon 9000?

to my knowelege dell uses the same card that ati sells to the public. the drivers my differ slightly to make it wok well with the system as a whole. i would uninstall all the video drivers and use ati's latest catalyst set from the web site.
dells drivers are for stability and compatibility not performance so some of the individual files may be older and win xp certified.
then again win xp update has a fix for programs that lock up at the splash screen but it is intended for games i think. give it a try it is a recomended update.
