DVDA and + R disks

Hi all (new guy),
I am having trouble writing to +R disks. I can write to +R/W without problem. But, when I write to +R disks it goes through the motions of writing to the disk, it then says there were no errors writing to the disk. I then try to view the material but the drive does not recognize the disk nor does my stand alone player. (this is with updates fresh and new)
sys:
Dell Dimension 8200

1.2g rdram
ati all in wonder 9700 pro
phillips +rw drive
turtle beach santa cruz audio

Thanks for your time
Max

dont get mad at me for asking this question, but does your drive support +R disks? My HP +RW does not, so it is worth asking.

Sometimes it is the most easy solution when someone else looks at it.
Thats the problem and there is a firmware update.
doh!
(now I did not get mad....so don't go makin fun of the dumb new guy ; )

If your Phillips +RW Drive is a first generation drive. A firmware update will NOT resolve your issue. You need at least a second generation drive which is the minimum that supports +R.

Our new corporate standard is "plus R" so my desktop PC has an HP DVD writer, which works great with DVD-A but not at all with Dazzle DVD Complete or PrimoDVD. All our studio burners are Pioneer A03s and A04s (minus R), burning with DVD-A, DVDit LE, DVD Workshop or DVD Complete. Dupes done with Prassi PrimoDVD. Go figure.
