giga is not a vsti, it's standalone and most people dedicate a whole computer to it. halion is a bit too intense for just a drum kit in my opinion. both of these are designed to replace hardware samplers and to handle large, complex instruments. if all you need is a drum sampler, my advice would be to run down to your local bookstore and pick up a copy of computer music magazine. it's a pricey britsh magazine that comes with a cd. they struck a deal with muon software to include a bunch of exclusive, free vsti in each issue of the magazine's cd. one of them is a great drum sampler, the sr-202. there are dozens of different drum kits available for it. plus, you also get a traditional sampler (ds-404) and a decent synth (cm-101). all of them are fully functional and FREE with the mag, well worth the 12 bucks. you can check out the mag at http://computermusic.co.uk/ but the software is only on the cd. you can't download it. |

Ditto what coolout mentioned. You could also check out Reaktor and Battery, both from Native Instruments. They can both run as VSTi's within ACID Pro 4.0. HTH, Iacobus |

kobe, i hate to be mean...but...umm...there's things called instructions that come with acid pro when you buy it. it has in detail how to assign a vsti folder and how to use them. you did buy it, didn't you? no need to answer, it's just questions like yours on this forum make me wonder... |

Create your own custom folder and put the DLL in that and then point ACID to it via the VST Instruments tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar. Remember to click the "Refresh" button after doing so. As coolout mentioned, be sure to read instructions for a specific VSTi fully, as some are different from others. HTH, Iacobus |
