Subject:Synching up audio loops

Hi,

For the life of me I can't figure this out. I'm running Acid 3.0. I've imported a drum loop that has already been beatmapped. I have two other loops that I want to import, a horn loop and a bas loop for example, and I want these loops synched to my drum loop. To do this I'm assuming acid will time stretch the loops to fit into the same time space as the drum loop. Is acid able to do this? I've tried beatmapper but it doesn't work. I thought beatmapper was supposed to synch up the loop to the current tempo. Also, how do I get beatmapper to load up every time I import a loop. I tried playing with the preference settings and I can't figureit out. Help!

It sounds like you need to ACIDize those files if you want to use them on a project-by-project basis, not have them just Beatmapped.

You might want to check out this KB article. In addition, there are other techniques involved in ACIDizing a file.

One way is to record a take in ACID, then bounce the result down using the Loop Region to specify a portion of the soloed take to use for bouncing. ACID will take the project's tempo and key info and apply that automatically to the bounced file.

If you have Sound Forge, you could also use its ACID loop creation tools to create ACIDized loops. (natch) However, it's a little more complicated. (I would actually recommend using a metronome or a click track; long story.)

I believe the option for loading the Beatmapper automatically for long files is on the General tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar.

Also check out the Audio tab. There's an option there labeled, "Open files as loops if between:". Set the second value to a desired number of seconds. Any file longer than this value will have the Beatmapper Wizard open on it. (The default is 30 seconds and can be long as 300 seconds, or 5 minutes.)

HTH,
Iacobus
