Hi all...seems like forever since I posted here, so I have to ask you all something. I have been using Slayer for an electric guitar soft synth...it's ok I guess. But I have become interested in Virtual Guitarist to incorporate into my Acid projects, to get some darker, heavier guitar parts, and just some decent electric and acoustic guitar sounds in general. I am interested in getting people's feedback about this product who have used it...the good, the bad, the ugly :) I want to make sure it's worth the $200 before I go get it. Thanks for your help!

Greg

I use VG via the FXpansion wrapper in Sonar.
Works great although it loads all samples into ram, so make sure you have enough (at least 512MB).
VG is very flexible playing in all keys and most tempi, there are some restrictions on slowest tempo for each instrument.
Nice additions: tight/sloppy rythm, dual separate guitars, mono/stereo variable, a delay variable wich at the extremes almost sounds like reversed playing.
A couple of times Sonar has crashed due to some hiccup with VG.
I would have like a few more accoutstic variations, no 3/4,6/8.
For me it is worth the price even when I do most of my accoutstic work on my trusty old Martin D28. The strumming in VG fleshes out my arrangements nicely.

Hi Erik,

Sounds pretty cool. Have you tried using VG with Acid? Does it work as well with Acid as with Sonar?

Nope, the midi facilities in Acid are a bit meagre for me at the moment.
