Subject:acid and midi (the work around that works)

i have found a good way to use acids midi
the answer is v-stack

its a work around i know but it works and works very good(better than using vsti,s in acid). for this i set up acid on a wave driver and use v-stack with an asio driver set up the midi, this is the only tricky part depending on what interface you have, now you have a more stable system and the advatages of vsti's.

this could be further improved with better midi monitoring but since in this case i am controlling what sounds i can play from the midi keyboard its not as much of an issue.
example;
battery channel 1,atmosphere 2,sampletank 3-5,exsp24 6-8,trilogy 9,absynth 10
using this aproach with a 2nd computer is even better.

So Ozzborn, just to clarify, you are running all your VSTi's in Vstack as a standalone app? And how are you syncing to Acid?

Thanks,

drbam

This is also a cool way to use VST effects in acid. Thanks for a great tip!

im just sequencing the midi in acid using v-stack as an external synth.
no sync involved

Where can i get V-stack from? - is it freeware?

Would this work with Xlutop Chainer? using VSTi's?

um...didn't i suggest this one at least 3 months ago. You don't have to pay for v-stack. if you not using the VST system link, which in this example you're not, xlutop's chainer does the exact same thing, but it's free. the only thing is in the free version you can't save presets so, can't have you favorite synth/effect combos at your fingertips...but at least it's free. You can also check www.kvr-vst.com there are many free vsti hosts that can be used this way.
