I truly am not a dummy at this ... but this one has me stumped. I installed a new sound card and upgraded to DX 9. Since then I can't get Acid 3.0 to run. I uninstalled the sound card and software, still nothing. Been in conferance with Tech support for three weeks and cannot find what is wrong.

Anyone else having the same problem? I have managed to get Acid 1.0 back on the comptuer and running. But every time I reinstall Acid 3.0, it runs in the background and the message "not responding", always come up. :-(

These have all been clean installs. Everything prior had been uninstalled and reinstalled. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

I know we can't roll back DX 9.

Thnx

I never tested ACID 3.0 with DirectX 9, but it should work. Are there any specific sets of drivers you can try with your soundcard? (Be sure to follow the vendor's uninstall instructions to the letter.)

HTH,

The initial DirectX 8 release hosed some apps in the way you describe. Do a search on the web for a utility called DX Buster. I have heard that it has saved the day for some folks with the same issues.

For the future, a good practice is to use a second computer for testing out the compatibility of updated drivers, applications etc. before you commit them to your main system. Obviously not possible if your second computer *is* your main system...

Yup, using a second one is what I'll be doing. A word to the wise, never upgrade any component, unless you're really, really REALLY sure you need it. ;-)

I think there is DirectX 9a update patch. Maybe try that too.
