I'm trying to do a full mix cd using my own original tracks with acid. When I put them together in acid they line up and sound perfectly fine. The issue is that when I render to any format everything comes out way off and sounds like a galloping horse. I use no effects, all tracks perfectly beatmapped. I just upgraded to acid 4 from 3. I don't use 3 anymore I trashed it. I'm seriously thinking about reinstalling it if acid 4 is still buggy. I would like for someone to look into this.

Weird. I always hear the reverse. (Playback in ACID is horrible but rendering is fine.) Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling ACID 4.0?

Yeah me too that's why I thought it was a hard question to answer. I've not uninstalled acid but I'll probably go back to 3 because of this. I figured out my key's were off. Some were on A and 1 was on Don't Transpose however this didn't do anything for the timing. I went back in and re-beatmapped all the files. Still the same thing...only one was off by .02 But still good enough for a mix of 20 seconds. I'm using 10 of my own tracks created in acid 3. :) If you want to hear any of them my AcidPlanet handle is DJDevon3. Thanks for the help.

Definitely try uninstalling and reinstalling ACID; it's quite possible something went kablooey in the process.

Well, folks, for those of you who haven't tried searching back through the old archives when I last addressed this issue, it is a known bug in Acid Pro that the rendering with beatmapped tracks that are set to "preserve pitch" simply does not work correctly. You will always find that no matter what you do, there will be a lag between two beatmapped tracks when preserve pitch is selected. So, here's the work around. Lay one track out, set preserve pitch on it, then render it to a new track. You'll notice that it won't line up exactly, so you'll have to adjust the beat a little bit (but still nothing noticeable from the original preserved pitch song, like maybe +/- .002 BPM). Repeat as necessary. If you completely turn off preserve pitch for all of the tracks, it will render correctly. This is true for the record button as well. Even though it will sound correct coming out of your speakers as you play it, it will still be messed up a little. Fix number 2 for the problem would be to get a virtual audio cable (which is basically a program that records the output of one program into another program). So you'd have Acid Pro playing out through the virtual cable and another program (such as SoundForge or Cubase) recording off that virtual cable. Hope this helps and I really wish Sonic Foundry would address this issue as it has been an issue since before their last release of 4.0b.

I use acid for exactly the same thing....and have had the same problem. Had to go back to 3.0. I've had extensive e-mail conversations with their technical people, and could not get any kind of resolution to the problem. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person going thru the same frustration. Basically the bottom line from Sonicfoundry was that there was some bug in the program, but they didn't really know what the solution was. They told me to remove all effects....and basically hope for the best. Very frustrating.
