Subject:Acid won't recognize VST plugins? help!

Okay here is a strange problem - I've been using Battery with Acid for a while with no problems. I was previously using Windows ME on my PC then I just upgraded to XP. I reinstalled Acid Pro 4.0 and Battery but now Acid won't recognize Battery as a VSTi plugin!

I've reinstalled Battery many times and told it specifically to install where all the rest of my VST plugins are. Still no use. Acid recognizes all of the other plugins with no problem.

I noticed in my VST plugins folder, all of the plugins are labeled as a "VST Plug-In" right under the file now. However, for the Battery.dll, it is labeled as an "Application Extension" not a "VST Plug-In". Could that be the problem? Is it a Windows XP thing???? Please help!

hey. I had a similar problem with some synapse vsti's .Not saying this will work for you but worth a try uninstall acid completely when I say completely "I mean completely" even go into program files find the Acid4.0 file and delete that also uninstall you vsti's as well (make sure you got backups of the serial numbers tho)..Then use regclean(you can get this free at www.download.com)and clean all references relating to AP and your vsti's... Reboot and start the installation process again first acid followed by you vsti's.....as I said worked for me maybe you too?

good luck :)

Yep some of My VSTi 's disappeared. This was fixed by removing and then reinstalling ACID. I didn't have to remove the VSTi's though.

Close ACID. Go to Start>Run and in the "Open" field, type "regedit" (without the quotes).

Go to My Computer/HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Sonic Foundry/ACID/4.0/Metrics

There should be a folder named, "VSTi Synth". Delete this folder. Close the Registry Editor and then restart ACID. Reconfigure your VSTi's.

HTH,
