Subject:Query regarding Acid Pro 4.0 download

I am from England... and to avoid paying duty and import taxies which would amount to half of the value of the purchase, i have decided on purchasing the download version. However, i have a dial-up connection which is relatively small and it has a 2 hour cut-off, which means that after being connected for 2 hours it will cut my connection off regardless of any pending downloads.

How is the download performed??

Can i download it at anytime after i purchase it?
If i get cut off will i be able to attempt to download it again?

Any advice or comments would be welcome

It'll cut you off even if you're in the middle of something online? What if you just tried connecting to a Web site once in a while? Would that keep you connected?

You can download the update version anytime you like, as it can act as a standalone full version. (You'll need to enter your serial key to unlock it, of course.) It's 27.8 MB.

how about using a download manager (I use DAP - Download Accelerator Plus) that supports resuming...?? I'm pretty sure that I downloaded Acid using that (I'm also in the UK)

Thanks guys.

Even if i surfed the internet while downloading it would still cut me off....it isn't a 'idle' disconnect but a mandatory one initiated by the isp.

I have thought of using a download manager such as DAP, but decided against it as i know that DAP is not only spyware but it has been known to actually add spyware to the programme.

I think i will download it from my mum's house as they have broadband and record it on a cd...or wait till i get broadband at the end of this month. They are finally putting it in my area and i will be the first to get it.

Regards and thanks again

Yes, this is what I would do. You then have a CDR copy of the app for reinstalling, etc. I have broadband and do this kind of thing regularly for a colleague who has dial-up service.
