Subject:listening to EQ results before having to save in XP 4.5

I had some tapes I burned on CD that came out a little on the Bass-e side. When I take the file and I, 'prccess,' 'graphic EQ, set the EQ, 'OK' it will save the file. If I play the file and then click graphic EQ it will stop the music. Is there any way I Can EQ while I'm listening to the music, then after I set it the way I want, save it? This taking the file and EQing, saving, listening to it, ajusting it again, saving, listening seems the long way. Is there a better way? Thank you, Chris.

Not in XP 4.5. If you upgrade to any full version of Sound Forge or XP 6.0 (maybe XP 5.0, I don't recall), you can preview any effect before applying it. Demo versions are available on the website.
