I have gotten in the habit of Shift+Deleting stuff to not have to remove it from the recycle bin. It took some pain, but I have changed my ways. I thought I had a file selected, but I also had my 8-pack directory. Months of downloads are now history. Is there any archive to get back old 8-packs from http://www.acidplanet.com/tools/8packs/, or am I just hosed? I'm hoping the answer I get isn't what I expect. |

Sorry, but they're most likely hosed. Maybe if you had a utility such as Norton Utilities or a company that can extract the data from your hard drive, but even those solutions aren't a guarantee either. There's a lesson here: Always backup. You never know when a disaster will strike. If you have a CD or DVD burner, use it to backup large amounts of data. HTH, Iacobus |

If it's THAT important to you, go ahead and get a copy of Norton Utilities which may or may not work depending on your OS; if you are using 98 you can probably recover anything, if it's XP or 2000 AND you are using NTFS you are most likely screwed. Data recovery services are usually expensive ... but there are several out there. Be aware that the more you use your computer AFTER you delete something the LESS likely you are to recover the deleted items. |

No, not that important. It is just annoying. A few of the 8-packs I liked and listened to when I was getting in a rut. Oh, well. Live and learn. The irony of this whole situation is that I actually was cleaning all the junk out for directories to actually DO the backup... :( |
