Subject:Nice feature that SHOULD be in AP 4.0c!!!!!!

Hello,
We DO need a "Mute" Button/Function available in the "right clic" menu onto a loop in a track!
I explain why I found it IMPORTANT:
I'm working on a new song and it's the first time I use voices over my music. I did the music first and new I've got some texts recorded by a friend to mix with the music. Of course, the text does not fit correctly to the length of the song, so I need to add, remove and/or cut some part with Chopper to have a good result.
The problem is i need to "test" different methods of "fitting" so, sometimes I do add a loop, delete it and add it again, and add another part, and delete it to add it again. I've got many many Markers to remember the place of each piece of loop I add/delete.
WITH a MUTE function available directly on a selected part of loop/track, a lot of time of working could be saved!!!!

What do you think of my suggestion?

Regards,
jam

Sounds kinda kosher. Remember as always that if you want to see something in a future version of ACID, fill out the Product Suggestion form.

Does you friend have/use ACID Pro? If he does, can't he just record his voiceover while the rest of the project plays back? It sounds incredibly laborious to have to actually edit the audio when you ultimately don't have to.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I'm not sure I entirely follow....

Are you saying you'd like to have a menu item "Mute" on the context menu's for tracks, or for individual events? If tracks, you can press Z to mute/unmute any selected track. If events, you could leave the events in-place and just pull the event's ASR envelope down to -inf, then raise it back up if you wanted to try it out again. Do either of those suffice for what you're trying to do? Unfortunately, adding functionality for muting out individual events (other than as described above) probably wouldn't be able to make it into ACID 4.0c. But I'll check...

HTH,
Joel

@ mD: I did send a message in the suggestion section of SoFo website, I just wanted here to have user comments too. And my friend does NOT use Acid at all.

@ Joel: I guess we DO need a mute button in the events menu. Minimizing to inf is NOT satisfying as enveloppes can be added onto a event/part of loop before wanted to mute it. Moreover, this function is a "standard" in every sequencer around. I know the aim is NOT to be similar to other programs, I don't mean to ask that, I do love Acid, but if this particular feature does exist everywhre else, it's because it's USEFUL!
By the way, sorry for my "poor technical" english, english is not my mother tongue.

jam

Joel was referring to adjusting an event's overall level. Every event has a volume envelope set at 0.0 dB. You'd simply hover over the top of the event and then click and drag the volume down. Only that event would be affected. Still, having a "Set to -Inf." right-click command would be handy in that case...

Call me arrogant, but I personally wouldn't want to waste my time trying to "fix" some media file that doesn't fit with the rest of a project unless it's totally necessary. Better to have your friend/colleague come and record over your existing project, or better yet, have your friend pick up ACID as well. You could then collaborate and not have to go through this fuss.

It's really much quicker to do takes and pick the best one. ACID has the ability to record a single track using multiple takes (in conjunction with the Loop Region). You could then bounce down the take you'd want to keep.

Just my 2¢,
Iacobus
