Hi!

Firstly, I got similar plans myself so i've been looking around (try www.tomshardware.com and www.rme-audio.com - the later has some good info about what PC to choose for audio use). Well, my first choice would be ASUS. I've got an ASUS motherboard right now (TUSLC-2 w/ PIII 1GHZ) and i'm very happy with it. My second choice would probably be Gigabyte. Why? These two manufacturer's simply often hit the highest scores in tom's benchmarks and ASUS is well known for stability and performance. A harder discussion is about what chipset and model to go with. BX chipsets ruled for a long time and by then the chipset question was easier to answer. Now there's many different chipsets and various memory types and noone of them have really set a standard. Most important is to know what you need and not. I.e, Do you need Serial ATA, Firewire, many USB's, Onboard LAN? Everything consumes resources which might affect stability. Well, today's motherboards differ very little in performance so stability and features would then be my biggest concern.
Anyway, if you want, try to read a little on the links I posted above. There's some info on Intel's new Dual DDR chipset 7205 but I also read that a follower is coming soon. It's best to go with chipset's that has had some time on the market. Oh well, hope this helped you a bit. Me myself have decided to wait until Intel's new chipset has been tested. It's a jungle, don't get lost, get what you need :)

Regards! / Johan
