Subject:Soft Encode vs 5.1 Plug-In Pack

I am running ACID 4.0, SOUND FORGE 6.0, VEGAS 3.0, SOFT ENCODE 1.0, & DVD ARCHITECT 1.0 on a P4, 2.4GHz, 256 DDRam. I am composing Music as well as Music Videos with this setup.

Now my question(s)....

1. Should I upgrade to the 5.1 Plug-In Pack from Soft Encode 1.0?
2. What are the differences between the two?
3. Are their specific uses for each of these?

I just read a thread that says that an AC-3 encoder comes with DVD ARCHITECT.

4. Does an AC-3 encoder come with DVD ARCHITECT?

I have both SOFT ENCODE & DVD ARCHITECT installed.

5. Is this NOT the way to do it?

- I'm so confused!

Thanks in advance,
Lamont

The 5.1 Encoder is in the V4+DVDA package. (You say you have DVDA so you must have V4 as well !)
With the 5.1 plug-in encoder you are going to be able to use it from within V4 & Acid Pro 4.0
Soft Encode won't be able to be render to 5.1 directly from the timeline like you can with the plug-in encoder.

However, it seems that Soft Encode will allow for the conversion of AC-3 files to other formats, whereas VV4 will not allow AC-3 files for import.
