How does the upgrade to Acid Pro 4.0 come?? -ACID Product Family

Subject:How does the upgrade to Acid Pro 4.0 come?? Posted by: SpyMan Date:4/11/2003 7:00:54 PM I have Acid Pro 3.0 but i want to Acid Pro 4.0 so to save my self some money i am contemplating the upgrade. But does it install on top of my existing Acid Pro or is it free standing. I would rather it be free standing cos then maybe i could sell Acid pro 3.0 and sometimes upgrades like microsoft windows are a little less stable than the full version. Thank You

Reply by: Chienworks Date:4/12/2003 6:54:13 AM The only difference between SonicFoundry's upgrades and full versions is how much you pay for it. After that, they're absolutely identical. No upgrade depends on a previous version being installed. Every upgrade i've ever installed resides in a separate directory from the previous version so that both are still fully and independantly functional. As far as being able to sell your license to an older version after paying the upgrade price? That depends on getting permission from SonicFoundry's customer service department.

If you sell your license you don't qualify for the discount. . . makes sense to me. Perhaps a SoFo rep could clear this up? drbam

You need your serial number for AP3 in order to buy the upgrade(I believe you need to be registered also). After you've got 4.0 installed and registered, you can then sell 3.0. Make sure that you don't try re-installing 3.0 with the serial number you sold...SoFo might wonder why the same number is dedicated to two different owners. M

But what's the point, anyway? How much can you really get on eBay (or wherever) for a used copy of an old program version anyway? I somehow doubt that it's really worth the hassle. David.
